Sexual Harassment Training Due by the End of the Year

Time is running out to deliver state-mandated sexual harassment prevention training. If you have employees working in California, Illinois, or New York here is a brief overview to help ensure you are staying compliant.

  • California employers with 5 or more employees who trained in 2021 must train their teams again in 2023 to meet the requirement of providing training every two years. 
  • Illinois employers must provide one hour of training annually to employees and managers. Chicago employers are required to provide employees with one hour of sexual harassment training, and to provide managers and supervisors with a two-hour course, even if the managers and supervisors work outside of Chicago. Chicago also has the added requirement of one hour of bystander intervention training for both employees and managers.
  • In New York, all employers must provide annual sexual harassment training and for New York City the training must meet the city and state requirements.
